The Choir Returns from Ireland and Scotland Tour

The choir has returned from their two week tour of Ireland, Northern Ireland, and Scotland! We battled the torrents of Ireland (imagine 61 San Diegans in the wind and the rain), toured the walls of Derry and Belfast, journeyed to isles in the Scottish highlands where St. Columba introduced Christianity, and sang our program titled, “Inscription of Hope,” in the mightiest of Edinburgh’s churches. In between worship services and concerts, we shared fun, fellowship, and a multitude of unexpected God moments. I’ve begun collecting devotionals and “God stories” from our travelers, and there are far too many to share in this article. To give you a taste, here’s an account from BJ Jensen about Nina, an audience member at our concert in Perth, Scotland:

Nina had not been in a church since 1955 except for her sister’s wedding. She rebelled against God as a youth because when she was growing up her parents made her attend weekly mass.  She didn’t know what brought her into the church that day. She was drawn to come in and give a wee listen to the concert as she walked by the front doors. “Do you think it was God inviting me?” she asked. I answered, “I’m sure it was!  There are no coincidences – only God-incidences.” I inquired, “Did you enjoy the concert?” “Oh, I was totally blessed by the music and the signing. It inspired me so much I’m going to start looking for church and I’m going to start going back.”
